Shadowhunters season 3 episode 5: Could Malec move in together?

We already knew that there was some good stuff worth looking forward to when it comes to Shadowhunters season 3 episode 5 on Freeform. Adding the idea of Malec potentially moving in together to the mix is both the icing on the cake and the cherry on top! There’s a lot to be excited for here for so many different reasons, as these are two characters who love each other deeply; with that, there isn’t any argument we can think of for the two to not want to take the next step.

In the sneak peek below (via Entertainment Tonight) for Tuesday’s new episode, you can see that it is actually Alec who suggests this idea to Magnus, making it clear to him that this would be a natural step forward for their relationship. He is there the majority of the time to begin with, so what’s the need for Alec to have to travel back and forth constantly? It’s a big step that could come with some conflict, but we think that the two are as prepared for it as two people can be in this situation.

While we cannot say whether or not Magnus agrees with the idea, it does sound as though there could be an adjustment period — after all, the warlock has been around for centuries and with that comes a certain routine. Having Alec around could break that, but it does seem as though it’s something he could be open to. That’s what happens when you love somebody — the positives outweigh any issues that were once there.

In speaking more about what Magnus’ decision-making could be when it comes to Alec moving in, here is what Harry Shum Jr. told the aforementioned website:

I think when someone has been around that long, you’re not too keen on change. But I think the beauty of Magnus is that he also has that element where he’s always conscious that he’s always lived that long. He can’t be set fully in his ways because you just constantly have to adapt to the environment or he’ll just be that old guy.

Much of this is in line with what we said about the character in our recent Unsung Heroes feature all about him — Magnus is a smart, pensive man who understands the value of love and also the rarity of it. He understands that matters more than any other sensibility.
