NCIS: Los Angeles 9 filming officially wraps; the wait for season 10 begins
In a new post on Twitter unit production manager Rick Tunell officially confirmed the news that filming for season 9 is wrapped up, while also making it clear that he hopes that everyone will be back to work before too long on a tenth season for the 2018-19 season. As of right now, there is no official renewal for a season 10, but CarterMatt continues to remain fairly hopeful that one is going to come. This is a series that is posting the best ratings for CBS on Sundays and beyond that, it still feels as though there is quite a bit of story left in the tank. Even this season alone there are many things that still need to be addressed, whether we are talking about the rivalry between Mosley and Hetty or the status of the Deeks – Kensi wedding. It’s possible that some stories are not wrapped up this season at all, which means that you are left waiting until season 10 to see what happens.
Before we get around to the end of this season, one of the things that we know the finale is looking to bring to the table is an epic rescue mission in Mexico, one that has personal ties to the team and could end up forcing them to make some difficult decisions. Having a cliffhanger at the end of all of this is something that would not be altogether shocking just because the series has opted to do that before; not only that, but it’s something that makes perfect sense to sweeten the deal for CBS to issue that renewal. The last thing that they want is a lot of angry people banging down their door (at least metaphorically) over some closure that they feel they were not given. Just asks the fans of Hannibal with what was arguably one of the biggest cliffhangers ever to their last season before getting canceled (can you tell that we are still salty over this?).

If NCIS: Los Angeles does get itself a renewal for season 10, expect filming to kick off at the earliest in July, if not slightly later. The premiere would then air on CBS in either late September or early October.
