Legends of Tomorrow season 4: Should Jes Macallan be promoted?
Will the actress behind Ava Sharpe be promoted to regular for the upcoming season? There is a good case to be made for it, given that she was such a fantastic addition to the series this year. The Time Bureau in general has proven to be fun, but with her stepping into her own there she’s offered up a great counterpoint to the Legends. Beyond just that, there’s of course the romance between Ava and Sara Lance that has quickly become the most-popular ‘ship in the series’ history. We’ve learned about some of her backstory now in “I, Ava,” and clearly there is enough of a foundation with her to keep the character around. They can explore more of her identity issues, see what happens next between her and Sara, and of course use some of her fighting skills in the field.
Obviously, a promotion for Macallan would be dependent heavily on how the story wraps up for season 3, but CarterMatt would like to think that the writers would tie up her story in a way that gives her an opportunity to still be around. We also would like to think that she would want to return herself, given that this has been a really fun role for her that has exposed her to a very different audience than some of her past work — Mistresses was a good, soapy drama, but it didn’t exactly involve time-travel or extended fight scenes.

We know right now that Matt Ryan will be a regular as Constantine in the event Legends of Tomorrow is renewed, so why not go ahead and add Ava to the mix? We also like to think that adding Ava would mean more Gary, which we welcome given that Gary is probably one of the funniest overall characters on the series.
When could we know about Macallan’s future?
Potentially as early as the finale later this month; at the very least, all should be revealed when we get around to the summer when season 4 would start filming.
