Five things an Outlander season 4 trailer needs to have

We know that we’re probably going be waiting months still for an extended Outlander season 4 trailer to be released — that was the case last year, so we’ve got every reason in the world to think that it could be the case once more this time. Since we cannot will the trailer to magically surface online this weekend, there is one thing that we absolutely can still do: Start to put out into the universe some of the various things we want to see.

If you look below, you can check out in total five different things that the Outlander season 4 trailer needs to have in it to make it as fantastic a trailer as it can possibly be.

1. The show’s version of America – Give us a sense of the landscape and of some of Jon Gary Steele’s brilliant designs — Outlander is a number of different things, but a visual wonder is pretty high on the list. Emphasize that early.

2. Allow us to meet at least one new character – As of right now, we consider the show’s three most-notable additions as Aunt Jocasta, Ulysses, and Stephen Bonnet. If we can meet just one of them in the trailer, we’ll be fairly happy in the end.

3. At least one great Jamie/Claire moment – This is a show that utilizes romance as a narrative push, so it certainly makes sense to give a little bit of time and attention to the series’ central couple. What’s exciting from the onset here is that they are going to have a lot of time to spend together — that’s fairly rare at the start of a season. In season 1 they didn’t know each other yet, whereas in season 3 they were apart for the first handful of episodes.

4. Brianna and Roger’s journey – Maybe you don’t go so far as to feature Bree in the past; yet, you should see some sort of indication as to what is driving her to get there. Since Richard Rankin and Sophie Skelton haven’t been featured on Outlander in the flesh in a while, the trailer would be a great way to reintroduce those characters to show fans unfamiliar with the book series.

5. A little bit of conflict – This story, after all, can’t just be Jamie and Claire living happily ever after in America. The trailer needs to show some signs of what they are up against and how they are going to be able to battle it. We’re coming off of what was easily in our mind the most epic season of the series to date. Season 4 should at least do what it can to try and match up to that scope.
