Criminal Minds season 13 finale will have big cliffhanger
The news about the cliffhanger was first reported over at TVLine and while they haven’t quite said what this said cliffhanger will be, signs point to it being one of the biggest ones that the show has pulled off. It does have competition in what they did at the end of this past season — Criminal Minds is a show that does love its cliffhangers!
As for why this specific ending does in face matter so much, a big part of this has to do simply with the sentiment among the writers and producers of the series. If they had a feeling that they were being canceled this spring, there’s a very good chance that they would have carved out an ending to this season that actually offered something more resembling closure. Because they didn’t do that, the easy sentiment to feel right now is hope. The ratings are down versus last year, and we’ve said openly, even in the video below (subscribe now for more), that this is one of the first times in the entire history of the show that we’ve been actually concerned over whether or not there would be another season. Yet, remember also that Criminal Minds is airing at a later timeslot this year and that plus natural viewer erosion is bringing the numbers down. It is performing better than two other CBS 10:00 p.m. series in Madam Secretary and Scorpion and is holding its own in comparison to some of the others.
