Saturday Night Live video: See unaired St. Patrick’s Day Bill Hader sketch

Saturday Night Live

There was a sure-fire St. Patrick’s Day sketch on this weekend’s Saturday Night Live with Bill Hader — unfortunately, it didn’t end up making it to air.

If you look below, you can see what is still a really funny and really absurd sketch featuring Hader doing a shtick that we have seen some other hosts do in the past. In this particular video he proclaims that a four-leaf clover “killed his whole family,” that he makes his own Shamrock Shake by leaving a glass of milk. What makes Hader so special is that even when a joke doesn’t quite work (take the “Erin Go Brockovich”), he lingers on it long enough so people eventually start to laugh.

To go along with this, we also have Beck Bennett dressed as a leprechaun, plus also a giant jar of mustard and what appears to be an actual live sheep. There’s no real rhyme or reason to this sketch so, unlike some other past ones from recent weeks, we can actually understand why it was cut. It makes some more sense than the recent Star Wars parody from the Charles Barkley episode that was actually fairly big-budget. That one was actually better than the vast majority of the stuff within the show itself.

Overall, any Bill Hader is great Bill Hader and we almost wish that there were another ten or so sketches from last night so that we had more great content to view all day long.
