How does Supernatural season 13 Scooby-Doo crossover happen?
Per Entertainment Weekly, things get a little bit strange when Dean takes the TV back home in order to create a little bit of a “Deancave” for himself … only to then get himself sucked into a classic Scooby-Doo episode alongside Sam and Castiel. This is where things start to get a little bit crazy, but Dean actually isn’t altogether upset about it. Here is what executive producer Robert Singer has to say on the subject to the site:
“Once they get over their amazement at being in the cartoon, two things happen … They say, ’We’ve been in a situation like this before with the Trickster and I think we’re supposed to play this out.’ And then they realize they’re in a Scooby-Doo cartoon, which makes Dean incredibly excited because Scooby-Doo was his favorite cartoon growing up.”
The episode that is being remixed for this episode is the classic “A Night of Fright Is No Delight” from Scooby-Doo, Where Are You? more than 40 years ago, and it’s actually an episode that Dean knows very well. That could prove useful at first for him as he helps the Scooby gang navigate the case … but things don’t actually end up concluding in the same way that they did on the original cartoon. In that episode, the “green ghosts” actually turn out to be real people in costume; here, things may be a little bit creepier.
In the aftermath of this there are of course many different things that we are wondering, with one of the major ones being whether or not the entire canon of this episode will be changed within the Scooby-Doo world after what Sam, Dean, and Castiel do there. Will Shaggy, Velma, Daphne, or anyone else be severely impacted by some of what they see in this case, or will they just haul the Mystery Machine off to the next case?
