The Bachelor finale: Arie Luyendyk Jr.’s final rose goes to…
Through most of the episode, you could sense what was the undercurrent of chaos between Arie Luyendyk Jr. and the final two women — Becca Kurfin and Lauren Burnham. To go along with that, we got constant warnings leading up to the show from producers that these people where human beings and that social media shouldn’t be overly cruel to them.
Basically, it was pretty darn clear that things were going to get crazy by the end of the night … but let’s start by just spelling out what happened during the Final Rose Ceremony — typically, the end of a story for a given season. At this ceremony, Arie made the decision to propose to Becca over Lauren in a typical, romantic setting. (This was the same deal you’ve seen time and time again with this show — the moment Lauren came out first to the final Rose Ceremony you knew how this was going.) It seemed as though on the surface that this was going to be the end of the story … or at least it would have were it not been for some of what looked to transpire after the fact.
One of the signs that there was serious trouble afoot came even before the proposal happened, given the fact that we kept seeing one confessional after another featuring Arie, who chose to reiterate time and time again how he had feelings for both of the remaining contestants.
