Outlander notes: North Bay auditions, Sam Heughan at Oscars after-party

Outlander season 3 episode 10 photos

There are a couple of different stories to get to in this morning’s Outlander notes, but let us begin once more with the news that the auditions in Canada are now complete. The second day of them took place in North Bay, Ontario Sunday, and a local report notes that there were at least 200 people lined up in hopes of landing a part doing background work on the new season. Many of these people waited outside, which is really quite hardcore when you think about it. It’s been around freezing / below freezing as of late there, but most of these people know a thing or two about preparing for the cold. You don’t live in North Bay otherwise.

Hopefully, producers end up finding everyone that they need form these auditions in order to populate some of their scenes later on this spring. The First Nations men and women selected are going to have a unique opportunity to travel to Scotland, with all of their travel and hotel expenses paid for, in order to work on the series. They will also receive a payment for their background work.

Consider this another reminder that Outlander is sparing no expense to make the series as great as it possibly can.

From the cold and snow to the sunshine

It’s still very cold in Scotland; one of the latest images below via Caitriona Balfe’s Twitter account is proof of that.

Meanwhile, Balfe’s co-star Sam Heughan was in Los Angeles Sunday for the Oscars, where he had an opportunity to attend the Vanity Fair after-party. You can find photos of him in attendance all over social media. We imagine given the weather in Scotland that this was a lovely break, and it’s also a much-needed one. We have seen both Balfe and Heughan find some time in order to take part in some aspects of awards season despite filming taking place. Balfe attended the Golden Globes (in which she was nominated) earlier this year, while Heughan was at least in town for some of the pre-show events. Meanwhile, Balfe also attended the BAFTA Film Awards recently as well as the IFTA Awards in Ireland, where she took home a prize for her work as Claire Fraser.

All of these appearances are important since it keeps discussion around you and your work going — Heughan is going to be in California more later this year, as he will need to promote the movie The Spy Who Dumped Me that he shot this past summer with Kate McKinnon and Mila Kunis. Hopefully, we’re going to get some sort of trailer for that before long!
