The Big Bang Theory season 11 finally introducing Leonard, Sheldon’s neighbors
So how are some of these neighbors, who at the very least known these characters from seeing them around, get factored into the larger story? That is something that show executive producer Steve Holland describes by saying the following to TVLine:
“Sheldon and Leonard are vying for the head of the Tenants’ Association … And Leonard has to go knock on some apartment doors to do some politicking.”
In some way, maybe you could see Sheldon and Leonard leading the Tenants’ Association as a sign of a major sea change. One of the things that we’ve always felt was that near the end of the series, the elevator would actually be fixed for good. It’s a bit of symbolism that everyone is in a better place; yet, it’s hard for that to happen beforehand given that going up and down the stairs is a great plot device for the series — it allows the characters some business to do while stating dialogue; it’s also a reminder that these characters are all fairly busy and have a lot going on. With them just going in the elevator, you don’t really get that in a way that is easy to present on television.

Here’s to hoping that whenever this episode airs, some of the producers find a way to get some notable names in there as Leonard and Sheldon’s neighbors. There’s something terribly fun about the idea that they may be living close to someone extremely famous, but just don’t know given that they don’t have anything in common with them.
