Grey’s Anatomy season 14 episode 13 review: The Station 19 tease; Jackson’s feelings
Andy arrived at the hospital to help a patient who she literally had to attach herself to for a while in order to keep them alive — not only did she do that over the course of the episode, but she also did precisely what she needed to do in order to ensure that Meredith managed to get the patent for her research process. She’s effective and we’re excited to see the spin-off after this.
Was the rest of the episode around her altogether full of revelations? Not necessarily, but the clear takeaway we have is that on some level, Jackson does still care for April. Maybe those feelings are romantic, or maybe he’s just desperate to cling on to the version of her he remembers and is somewhat afraid that this version of her is starting to fade away. Still, Jackson’s in an interesting spot given that Maggie has Clive and April is also moving onto other things. There’s not a whole lot of room for him in either one of their lives at the moment.

As for some of the research projects, it was fun seeing Amelia and Alex continue to work together — though that fun turned into sadness when Tom basically threw water all over their efforts by reminding them that their young, musically-inclined patient is probably going to die. That is rather sad, but at the same time Alex and Amelia are the sort of people who won’t give up under any circumstances. This isn’t just about advancement in the field; it’s about saving lives, which does remain very much at the forefront of the show.
CarterMatt Verdict
This Grey’s Anatomy episode served as a pretty worthy launching pad for the new series. Andy is likable, we already like Ben, and while it doesn’t seem like it’s going to be reinventing the wheel, it really doesn’t need to so long as it’s enjoyable. The biggest thing we want to see more of now is Grey’s Anatomy embracing some of their unusual character combinations moving forward.
