Fuller House creator Jeff Franklin releases statement after firing
In a new post on Instagram (see below), Franklin made it clear that he was “heartbroken” to be leaving the series and that the world of Full House and Fuller House has been a part of his life for many decades at this point. Franklin actually left Full House before the end of its run, as well, but for entirely different reasons. In this instance he is being accused of misconduct in the work place and was reportedly verbally abusive to show staffers.
Fuller House will still continue as planned with the stable of writers and producers that the series has on board; the fourth season will begin production later this year. While they may have made the decision to let Franklin go, at the same time it was pretty clear from the start that Netflix was not going to let anything happen to Fuller House itself. This is one of their most-successful series and it caters to a demographic that many of the other shows out there struggle to get. It’s a family sitcom, and the subject matter in itself is probably one of the many reasons why the show’s producers are as protective of the series as they are. They understand the climate that we are in and that decisions made off-screen will become a distraction to everything that happens onscreen.
