Jane the Virgin star Gina Rodriguez joins Brooklyn Nine-Nine for guest spot
There is nothing 100% confirmed about the casting just yet but in a now-deleted post on Instagram via Terry Crews, the Jane the Virgin star was seen alongside both Terry and Stephanie Beatriz, who plays Rosa on the show.
Here’s one other bit of interesting evidence from a little over a month ago. After the story came out that Rosa was bisexual on the series, Beatriz was asked who she would want to play a love interest of hers. Her response? Gina Rodriguez, which led to the tweet below from the actress:
Now, it seems like if Rodriguez isn’t playing this character, there may be a bunch of people live-tweeting the episode with frowny-face emoji. This is a great chance to fulfill an actor’s wish and also giving Brooklyn Nine-Nine at the same time a top-tier performer in order to play what really should be a super-fun role.
Just in case you are wondering how Rodriguez can pull double duty with this show and her own, Gina already finished filming for Jane the Virgin this season, which had a slightly smaller episode order than it has in the past. She is starting to also expand out to a number of other projects, including the movie Annihilation alongside Natalie Portman, which is in theaters now.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine still has quite a few episodes to go the remainder of the season, so obviously the moment that there is more news to share, we’ll have some of that news here for you. Meanwhile, Jane the Virgin is going to continue airing new episodes on The CW Friday nights for several more weeks. Its status beyond this season is, regrettably, still unclear.
