Chicago PD season 5 episode 16 preview: ‘Profiles,’ the 100th episode

Chicago PD season 5 episode 16 is effectively many different things. For starters, this is the 100th episode of the season! Beyond that, this is also the first part of a two-hour crossover. It’s also going to have an intense, creative case that should also leave you guessing.

One thing that you should know about this crossover is this: We’re not just talking here about a crossover where the two shows only slightly interact with one another. This is one of the most immersive crossover events in the history of the show! These two episodes are incredibly linked and, per executive producers Derek Haas and Rick Eid, you’re going to want to watch both to completely understand what’s going on. 03/07/2018 (10:00PM – 11:00PM) (Wednesday) : Intelligence investigates a string of bombings targeting members of the media. Racing against a ticking clock, the team enlists Firehouse 51 to help examine the devices and prevent the next attack.

Is this episode timely? Absolutely so, given that the whole objective here seems to be bringing up the subject of fake news into the forefront. It’s something that is a huge part of what is going on in the world right now, so we cannot say that we’re altogether surprised the show would be choosing to touch on this at the moment. What we hope is that the show takes a nuanced approach to their presentation of journalism and some of what they face in the day-to-day. There are some serious issues that come along with the job and many of them are so much harder than anyone would imagine — we’re not speaking too much about us, but rather people on the ground looking to exposure corruption and trying to stop powerful people.
