Big Brother Canada 6 pre-game interview: Meet wine ambassador Kaela Grant

Kaela Grant

Welcome to our Big Brother Canada 6 pre-game interview series! We recently had a chance to speak with the houseguests leading up to the start of this new season, premiering on Global on March 7, as we’ve done years in the past. The goal this year was to find out a little bit about these players strategically, but also a little more about them as people. We want to know why they’re going to be interesting personalities to watch over the coming months and where they are coming from.

If you want to get some other Big Brother Canada pre-game interviews, you can do so by visiting this link.

In this article, the focus is on Kaela Grant, a wine specialist who is going to do just about everything that she can to ensure that she does not get drunk with power. You’re welcome for that one.

Take a look at the pre-game interview below.

CarterMatt – Tell me about yourself — your name, your age, and where you’re from.

Kaela Grant – My name is Kaela Grant, I’m 25 years old, and I’m from St. John, New Brunswick. East Coast!

What do you do for a living?

I am a wine ambassador at a restaurant and I’m the head server, as well. I educate the staff on the wine, I provide tasting notes for them, and I am their wine go-to within the whole restaurant.

What made you want to be on Big Brother Canada this season?

I am a huge super-fan and I’ve seen every season, every episode. I am a live feeder and it is absolutely a dream of mine to be on Big Brother. I just can’t believe that this is happening.

What’s your strategy for winning this season?

I get underestimated a lot from day to day because I’m really cute, small, and I come off like the girl next door. But, I’m definitely a competitive badass which a lot of people don’t see coming. They just kind of judge me right out off the bat for being so cute. But, I’m very competitive, I play a lot of sports, and I can be quite aggressive at times. I’m definitely going to use that to my advantage and play that cute role as long as I can until I dominate those competitions at the end.

Who are you most like from past Big Brother seasons, US or Canada?

Honestly, I couldn’t compare myself to anyone. I am so diverse and so adaptable to every single kind of personality because my personality itself is diverse. There’s not just one single person I can pinpoint and say ‘I am just like them.’

What’s the one part of your life at home you’re going to miss the most in the game?

My kitties! I have two kitties at home and they are the light of my life. I’m going to miss them every single day.

Who is your biggest idol in life and why?

Definitely my mother. She is the strongest, most independent woman I’ve ever met in my whole life. We didn’t have a lot growing up so she had to be the strongest role model for us. She definitely taught us our own independence growing up. I wouldn’t be who I am without her; she is amazing.

How are you going to keep live feed viewers at home entertained?

I am so silly and so goofy. I am a live-feeder myself and I want to watch people having fun and playing the game. I don’t want to be a floater. I’m not there to sleep all the time — I’m there to talk strategy, play that game, but also have a lot of fun.

Besides the money, what are you hoping to get out of this season?

I’m hoping that Canada will see me as a real contender and a real player. If I can be the best player that Canada has ever seen, that will be the ultimate goal. I’m a huge super-fan and I know the game really well. I don’t care if I have fans or if people like me. I hope the people who are the fans will appreciate how hard I want to play this game.

First Impressions

Kaela is someone who has a good sense as to what she wants to do and, on paper, it should work. She’s got an upbeat, optimistic personality and understands that she can’t just go in and beast out right away. Just get ready for people to ask her a thousand questions about wine this season.

What’s your take on Kaela?
