NCIS: New Orleans season 4: LeVar Burton returning as director!
In a post on Twitter, the former Star Trek: The Next Generation star confirmed that he is on set working once more on an episode — he has already directed a few episodes of the CBS series, including some for season 4. This one just adds to the list. We would still love for him to actually appear in an episode as an actor coming up — while Burton has been very much active in directing, producing, and voice-acting, he hasn’t had a series-regular gig on a scripted TV show since Perception was canceled over at TNT.
There is a clear connection between Burton and NCIS: New Orleans on that he worked with Scott Bakula as a director on Star Trek: Enterprise; he directed nine episodes of Enterprise and also helmed multiple episodes of Voyager, Deep Space Nine, and even his own show in The Next Generation. (Sadly, he has yet to step into the director’s chair for Star Trek: Discovery — that seems like a necessity if CBS All Access wants to keep appealing to fans of the classic Trek.)
For anyone out there who has a question about the production code for this episode, this is the 17th episode that is being shot for this season. Yet, that does not necssarily mean it is the 17th episode airing. As a matter of fact we know for certain in this case that it is not; there were some episodes entering season 4 left over from season 3, so because of that, the 17th episode produced for season 4 is more than likely going to be the 19th or 20th to air.
