The Resident character spotlight: The future of Emily VanCamp’s Nic

Our next character spotlight for Fox’s The Resident focuses on Nurse Nicolette “Nic” Nevin. We love Nic because again she’s not your average nurse. In the series, she isn’t one who just helps the doctors, she serves a purpose. In addition, she’s the only one who can see through Dr. Lane Hunter’s supposed cancer clinic. She also cares more about the patients then the hospital’s political agenda and would put her career on the line in that’s what it takes. So for the rest of Season 1 here’s what we’d like to see for Emily VanCamp’s character.

Challenge Dr. Hunter – Nic is currently the only one who fears Dr. Lane Hunter’s cancer clinic isn’t what it appears to be. She came to this conclusion after a regular patient named Lily Kendall was released even though all her tests didn’t come back positively. Then Lily returned to the hospital in a worse condition then when she left. Nic also discovered that Dr. Hunter keeps her patient files away from the hospital’s eyes and that she keep them guarded for herself only. We love that Nic is the one trying to figure this out because Nic represents the average person. Yes, she’s a nurse and unfortunately often times they are overlooked, so we like that Nic isn’t letting this bring her down. She’s a smart woman and the dynamic between gets more and more intense as the episodes progress. We want to see it intensify and we definitely want to see what Dr. Hunter is truly up to.

Nic’s backstory – Now due to the fact that this series is only in its freshmen season, there’s still so much that can still be revealed to us. For example, we want to know something about Nic. We don’t want her whole story, but we do want to know something about her that can progress her story forward. Again, it’s only the first season so, of course, we don’t want them to reveal everything about her, but surely something can help us better relate to Nic. By revealing something about her past, whether it be her family or other relationships outside of Conrad, it can also help fans better relate to her so that we become connected. This connection is important because it’s why fans keep coming back week after week.
