Chicago Fire season 6: Is Anna still tied to the story?

The Anna – Severide relationship was one of the most powerful things about Chicago Fire season 5, especially since it completely transformed the character of Kelly Severide for a while. He was looking for a way to be a hero in life in the same way that he was to people on the job, and he found that and then some. Ultimately, he ended up finding a way to get genuine love with someone who had a real zeal for life. He struggled in the aftermath of that, but we do think that he remembers her still as one of the most influential people in his life.

As a result of that, it looks like Anna may still be making an impact on Kelly later this season. As show executive producer Derek Haas noted to TVLine recently, Taylor Kinney’s character is going to be visiting Springfield later this season — if you remember, Anna is from Springfield. We’re not sure what other business he would have there that is not Anna-related given that he didn’t opt to take the job there. It’s possible that he is finding some way to remember her, potentially on the anniversary of her death. A reflective Kelly Severide is a good Kelly Severide.

With this spelled out, we don’t exactly think that the death of Anna means the end for Severide’s romantic life. While Stella Kidd may be Zach at the moment, we’re not ruling out a romantic future for the two if the timing is right. They have a lot in common clearly, so if they do decide to give a relationship another go there is a lot of material to explore there. Beyond that, there are of course a number of other possible suitors that could be in the mix. Remember that an upcoming story could have both Severide and Casey taking on some temporary fame after the rescue that the executed in the closing minutes of this past episode. A photojournalist is going to be very interested in their story.
