Designated Survivor season 2 episode 11 video: Aftermath of Alex’s death
We know that the ABC series is going to be jumping forward and the focus of that seems pretty obvious — this is a tool for them to be able to push a little bit past what’s happening with a funeral or some of the mourning process. Instead, the series will be planting a little bit of its focus on trying to resolve another important order of business: How it happened and, to go along with that, how Tom can get some sort of vengeance. (Remember, he doesn’t have to go Jack Bauer on whoever is responsible — there are multiple forms of revenge.)
While Tom copes with the aftermath of what happened, expect plenty of action for Hannah Wells and the rest of the team. Designated Survivor has always been a show with a number of different facets to it, and that is something that is clearly going to continue as we move more now in the future.
The one issue we have with the promo is more from an ABC point of view than anything that the producers themselves are doing — it still feels like there’s a little bit of disconnect between what the show should be and how it’s being set up for viewers. We would think that the better show in the wake of Alex’s death is something that is not big and crazy — instead, go small and intimate. Allow Kiefer Sutherland’s performance to speak for itself. He’s a tremendous actor with the right material and this could be that chance. It’s possible that some of that will be in the episode itself, but it’s not really shining through in some of the promotional material at present.
