House of Cards season 6 spoilers: Cody Fern of American Crime Story joins
House of Cards season 6 has officially enlisted Cody Fern, but the role he is playing is a little bit of a mystery.
With that being said, this series-regular role does have quite the unusual story behind it. According to TVLine, the American Crime Story actor was originally cast to play a new love interest for Kevin Spacey’s Frank Underwood prior to his dismissal from the show. With the writers retooling the entire final season over the past few months, he will now be playing a slightly-modified role. It should prove interesting to see how he fits into the story now, with the same going for almost all of the other characters. We imagine that for the writers, this season had to be a stranger season than most since they’ve basically created two different parallel universes.
The new season of House of Cards will hopefully premiere later this year, with Claire Underwood now serving as the central character in the story. This is meant to be the final season, but we imagine that there are still ways in which to extend the story. Just remember that there was already talk of a spin-off taking place surrounding one of the show’s important characters. The final season is reportedly going to run for eight episodes.
It’s hard to develop a lot of excitement around a role being cast without knowing the context, but we do like that the producers found a way to keep Fern in their plans even though the original concept for the part obviously fell through. That was a classy move on their part since you don’t want to punish an actor for some matters that were clearly very much out of their control.
