Call the Midwife season 7 episode 4: Can anyone help Trixie?

Call the Midwife season 7 episode 4

While many episodes of Call the Midwife have a tendency to be rather emotional, this weekend’s new installment could prove to be that more than almost any other. What’s the reason for it? Well, much of that has to do seemingly with Trixie’s current struggle.

Even though it was Trixie who decided to end her relationship with Christopher, she is also going to be struggling in the aftermath of it. Some of her struggles with alcoholism are going to return and as a result of that, she’s going to be in need of a little bit of help. Could there be some other midwives at Nonnatus House who are there to lend a helping hand? You have to assume so, given that they have been there for her before and it absolutely feels as though they are going to be there for her now.

In speaking on this subject a little bit more to the Daily Express, it actually seems as though Sister Julienne could be one of the characters taking the lead. Here is what Jenny Agutta (who plays the character) had to say on the subject:

“…When faced with Trixie’s drinking, Sister Julienne is stern yet also embracing of her because there’s a problem to be faced.”

This is a problem that Sister Julienne is eager to solve, and we also think that it is one that she has to solve for a number of different reasons. For starters, she does definitely care about Trixie as a friend in addition to a colleague. Beyond that, she also recognizes that this is not good for business and she cannot have someone potentially allowing their drinking habits to get in the way of the job. That’s a pretty bad look no matter how you slice it.

Hopefully, this storyline starts to get a little bit resolved within this episode — though there is more than likely no immediate hurry for it.
