See Pete Davidson’s Dockers commercial on Saturday Night Live
Tonight on Saturday Night Live, we got a piece all about Pete Davidson’s Dockers commercial — and you don’t have to wait in the event that you want to check that out now!
This commercial (see the bottom of the article) was referenced via Weekend Update tonight, and it was an amusing and somewhat-shocking take from Pete about the company that hired him and got people to take off their pants. As Davidson notes, though, the timing here wasn’t great given some of the various headlines that came out after the fact. (Obviously, there’s nothing malicious about the Dockers ad — he’s just trying to get people to wear different pants.)
The thing we love about this entire segment on SNL was that it offered up a good opportunity to see what goes into making a commercial … sort of. Pete has been killing it on Weekend Update as of late, so we were ultimately just glad to have him turn up tonight for that reason and that reason alone.
Ultimately, this commercial is really ridiculous, but that makes sense given the fact that Pete is almost ridiculous. It almost feels like Davidson is like a fashion judge meets Billy Eichner from Billy on the Street.
One of the things that is a little bit random about the ad is this — why in the world was this in San Francisco? Pete spends a lot of his time in either New York or Los Angeles; meanwhile, we didn’t know that San Francisco was such a hotbed for people who really needed to wear khakis!
It wasn’t altogether clear if this entire segment tonight was actually meant to highlight Super Bowl commercials or to just give Pete a venue to talk about this commercial. Either way, we’d consider this to be a nice entry in the show. We’ll see if the commercials tomorrow can top it in some form.
