Bull season 2 ratings rise: What’s the reasoning for it?
Here’s one of many interesting facts at the moment when it comes to Bull season 2 — three out of the past four episodes, the series has tied its season high with a 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic. Meanwhile, three out of the past four episodes are the most-watched of the entire season.
There is one thing that you can attribute the success to: The sole fact that it’s the winter — CBS procedurals tend to fare better in the colder months, when there is less for potential viewers to do and they spend more time indoors. However, it’s still a welcome sign for a second-year show to be seeing this sort of viewer loyalty and it’s a sign that some of the changes to Bull this season are working. By emphasizing more the characters, especially the supporting cast, we’ve gotten a much better sense of who some of these people really are.
What’s remarkable is that Bull has managed to keep these ratings high given that for most of these episodes (excluding the last one before Christmas), this was a series airing directly against This Is Us on the schedule. You would think that the NBC drama would feast on all the viewers, but that has not been the case. Bull has actually had more viewers than This Is Us over the past few weeks, even though it hasn’t had the same exact level of popularity in the 18-49 demographic. It’s holding its own and if it can survive This Is Us, we certainly think it will survive a lot of other competition it’s up against. That’s one of the many reasons why we feel pretty confident about its season 3 odds moving forward.

If Bull can continue to go strong the next couple of years, there’s also a chance that something else could help its numbers down the road: Syndication. We personally feel like this is what made two other shows in NCIS and The Big Bang Theory into the behemoths they’ve become.
