This Is Us season 2 episode 14 return date: The Super Bowl episode

This Is Us season 2 episode 14 is not your ordinary episode of the show — it’s probably going to be the biggest episode in the history of the series.

We’re speaking here, of course, of the big episode that is coming up on Super Bowl Sunday, one that could feature many big surprises, twists, and turns. Given the Pearson family’s love of the Pittsburgh Steelers, there is a reason to think that football will be somewhat involved in this episode. There’s also a reason to think that the writers are putting some significant life events at the center of this story, as well.

For the time being, NBC is being super-coy on the finer details of this episode. As of the afternoon of January 23 there is no episode title announce, nor is there a synopsis to share. Basically, the network is handing down a big ol’ goose egg when it comes to information beyond the return date of Super Bowl Sunday — the time of the episode could also vary depending on the story. Ideally, what you probably want is a game that is both super-close, but also reasonably fast-paced. The best ratings combination for This Is Us is having the game over early enough so that viewers don’t have to go to bed, but not also a blowout. If the Patriots come out and smoke the Eagles, for example, you’re probably going to lose a chunk of the potential viewership.

This Is Us season 2 episode 14 is, interestingly, not the final episode of the series before the Winter Olympics. NBC will air season 2 episode 15 on February 6, likely in order to capture some of the audience who watched the first game. (Unfortunately, there is not much of a history these days of shows holding on to all of the viewers that they gain from a Super Bowl episode.)
