Famous in Love, The Bold Type season 2 premiere dates revealed; Grown-ish renewed
Today, the network officially confirmed that come Wednesday, April 4, we would have a chance to see the premiere of Famous in Love season 2. This series stars former Shake It Up! star Bella Thorne as a young woman who finds instant superstardom after getting her big break in a movie project. As you would imagine, there is quite a bit of drama that can come along with that.
Meanwhile, the fashion-magazine-themed The Bold Type is going to return for its own second season on Tuesday, June 12. These two shows both are a part of what Freeform is trying to do now — tell unique, strong stories for young adults that raise interesting questions and tackle difficult subjects. They’re trying to usher in a new generation of viewing, as well — while neither The Bold Type nor Famous in Love drew huge live+same-day ratings through their first seasons, they each performed in terms of streaming and watching after the fact via DVR. Freeform is starting to understand more that shows these days are largely dependent on getting audiences through alternative means — if they can find a way to do that through DVR ratings and other measures, then it doesn’t matter to them how viewers watch. They just need to be able to continue finding ways to monetize it.

If you do really love the black-ish spin-off series grown-ish, you will be pleased to know that it has been granted a second season … not that this should come as a shock to anyone given that this show generated some great ratings for the network through its first handful of episodes. Yara Shahidi is a young star in the making and this series does still have crossover potential with the main show over on ABC.
