The Simpsons season 29 episode 12 return date hopes for Fox comedy
Tonight’s episode “Frink Gets Testy” is, (pending some sort of last-second change to the schedule) the last installment that is coming on the air for a while. Fox has scheduled repeats for the immediate future, which makes some sense given that you’ve got NFL conference championship games ahead coupled with the Grammys, the Super Bowl, the Winter Olympics, and eventually the Oscars. That is a lot of competition coming over the next several weeks. Obviously, The Simpsons is showing everyone that it will be on the air long after many of us are gone, really to the point where after the zombie apocalypse happens we will see zombies roaming the earth quoting various Bart Simpson lines in between chewing on human flesh. Nonetheless, Fox still wants to get the best ratings for it that they can. They’re not going to burn off episodes of the show at a time in which nobody is viewing.
While not confirmed as of yet by Fox, signs point towards The Simpsons season 29 episode 12 airing on Sunday, March 11 — that could obviously change, but there are still 11 episodes to air this season and if The Simpsons starts later than this, they’ll have to run the rest of the season without repeats virtually anywhere. The show is locked in to returning in March unless it wants to do some sort of wonky scheduling after the fact.
For those who are interested in also learning how The Simpsons is faring right now ratings-wise, it’s averaging a 1.8 in the 18-49 demographic — virtually the same as last year. This average will probably increase tonight thanks to a new episode coming after an NFL playoff game, but will then probably fall in some of the remaining weeks simply because there won’t be that big lead-in anymore. Though, like we mentioned earlier, there’s no reason to worry about the future of The Simpsons — all jokes about zombies aside, it does already have a season 30.
