MacGyver season 2 episode 13 review: Robotics gone wrong
The story tonight effectively began at a robotics competition of sorts, one where Mac was competing against Allie (Ashley Tisdale), a woman with whom he had a romantic past. Unfortunately, it turned out that her creation went rogue and started to go right towards the Pentagon, which started to make this feel like some sort of combination between Pacific Rim and Westworld.
Basically, the action this week culminated in seeing some of what we love the most from MacGyver: Him trying to save his friends and everyone close to him under the craziest of circumstances. That included seeing him climbing atop the mobile rogue robot while seeing it inch ever closer to its location in the end. This was crazy! There was also another problem in that they were going to need an air strike in the event things went south on the ground.
As for whether or not Allie and Mac a future, we’re not ruling it out. He still cares about her, and she realized that being super-competitive with him probably wasn’t the right move, either.
In the end, the good guys won!

Jack goes back
Another fun part of the episode was seeing Jack back at his old high school reunion. This was a chance to see a different side of the character than we’ve seen before — it didn’t hold all that much of a bearing for most of the later part of the case, but in the end there was a nice moment where Jack got Mac a new Swiss-army knife to make up for what happened previously.
Jack also got what he wanted out of the reunion: Answers to what happened with the race for homecoming king. This was ridiculous, mostly in how Jack realized that he may have “peaked” when he was in high school had he actually won and that, in some bizarre way, losing the title may have been the best thing for him in the end. It inspired him to be better and actually not settle for being the most popular kid in school.
This episode had a perfect ending: Jack was crowned homecoming king at the Phoenix Foundation. He even got a crown!
Weekly Samantha Cage update
She is alive, and she actually appeared onscreen this week … well, sort of. She recorded a message to the team saying that she is doing all right, but is now in the process of recovering from her injuries with her family.

CarterMatt Final Verdict
This episode of MacGyver was certainly all sorts of fun, whether it be the crazy rogue robot to the runner with the monkey and the Swiss-army knife that both began and ended the episode.
