The Walking Dead season 8: What does Robert Kirkman think about Carl decision?
We know that there have been many people out there who have wanted comic creator Robert Kirkman to come out against the move, given that this entire world is his baby and he has such affection for Carl. Kirkman’s not willing to do that, though he also has the benefit of some advance knowledge as to where the series is going to go moving into the future.
Speaking on that subject in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Kirkman admitted to some reservations about the twist but over time, he’s come to accept and understand just what the show is trying to do:
“I think Scott first brought it up to me as a possibility probably about a year ago at this point … At first, I was kind of like, ‘Well, that’s a big one, you know?’ I might have had a little bit of trepidation. But once he laid out to me exactly what his long-term plans were, and the things that come out of it, and the things that it leads to, it was something I got on board with.”
Now, the struggle for The Walking Dead seems to be finding a way to get some of its eager, super-passionate fans to get on board with whatever it is that the show is bringing to the table here. That’s going to be hard. They have no foresight; all they have is a love of Carl and a disappointment that the series is going to be heading in this direction.
