Blindspot season 3 spoilers: Could Reade and Zapata get together, or build to it?
Here’s where we are on the subject right now: Tasha is dealing with some of the feelings that she has for him. He had those feelings back for her a little while back, but at the time she wasn’t exactly open to receive them. It seems fair to call this a rather hefty predicament that she’s now. She can’t have her feelings be reciprocated because of where he now is in his life. Consider this to be a matter of bad timing or anything else that you want. What matters is that she’s going to be stuck on the outside looking in … unless something changes on his end.
Speaking on the subject to Entertainment Weekly, here is what executive producer Martin Gero had to say on the current state of things:
“It’s difficult for her … In some ways, she had her chance last season when Reade kissed her. Now he’s in love, thinking about getting engaged. Zapata will find it hard to step right up and be like: ‘Look, I think I might love you.’ It’s a story that will evolve over the back half of the season.”
The best thing that Zapata can really do at this point is be there for her and show that she cares in a way that doesn’t just look like she is trying to interject or cause problems in the relationship. She basically just has to remind Reade why he cared for her in the first place. If it works out, that’s wonderful for her since the two parties are going to have a chance to be together. If it doesn’t work out, then there’s probably going to be a whole lot of pain on her end. She just can’t make a move that causes him to either resent her or become protective of the current relationship he’s in and the feelings that he has now.

Blindspot season 3 has many different things that it’s now juggling, in between this relationship, the state of Jane and Weller, Roman’s role in the future, and probably a few other stories that we’re going to see unfold. A big part of the fun is seeing where some of the chips fall.
