Shark Tank repeat beats Once Upon a Time ratings, lifts Agents of SHIELD
This episode of Shark Tank drew in total a 0.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic plus 3.7 million viewers. Meanwhile, as a whole Once Upon a Time season 7 is averaging a 0.5 rating and just under 2.5 million viewers. This is for new episodes, ones that are likely much more expensive to make than throwing some super-rich people out on a small set so that they can make more money alongside some entrepreneurs. We don’t take any pleasure in reporting this, given that Once Upon a Time has been one of our favorite shows to cover over the years and we love the fan base for it; if anything, consider this a call to action. If you love Once Upon a Time you really need to get the word out for viewers to watch it live. If the ratings don’t improve it’s very hard to imagine it coming back.
Even if it does return, we would suggest moving it and Shark Tank back around. Shark Tank on Friday nights just feels perfect — it’s TV comfort food! Why break with tradition? This is one of the more dubious moves since Channing Dungey took over as ABC programming head.
Looking beyond these two shows … Shark Tank coming around on Friday proved to be an asset to Agents of SHIELD. The latest episode drew a 0.6 rating, its best number since the two-hour premiere, and almost 2.5 million viewers. We do think that if Agents of SHIELD continues to draw around this there is a small chance that it comes back for a season 6. Given the season 4 ratings we don’t know how ABC could’ve expected all that much more out of Coulson and company. While it may be down about 20% this season in the demo, it’s actually only down about 3% in total viewers.
As for Blindspot … The shocking fall finale drew a 0.6 rating (down versus last week) and around 3.5 million viewers. This isn’t bad, but we hoped for more given that there was no competition in the form of MacGyver.
What do you think about the Friday ratings?
