Madam Secretary season 4 fall finale: Elizabeth on opposite side of President Dalton

Madam Secretary

This Sunday is season 4 fall finale of Madam Secretary and the promo (which CarterMatt has for you below) definitely makes it seem like it’s going to be a good one. Before we dive further into what you can expect from this installment, we have the episode synopsis for you:

“Women Transform the World” – Secretary of State McCord struggles with the realization that she may need to advise the Afghan government that a compromise with the Taliban may be better than a war with them. Also, Henry uses Dmitri as bait to convince a Russian spy to help the U.S., and Daisy returns from maternity leave and decides to finally tell Joe’s mother about the baby, on MADAM SECRETARY, Sunday, Dec. 17 (10:30-11:30 PM ET/10:00-11:00 PM, PT) on the CBS Television Network.”

The fall finale is definitely going to be a jam-packed episode for fans. Elizabeth has the daunting task of informing President Dalton that the Taliban want to negotiate with a deal with the U.S. which leaves the President in a difficult position. The promo doesn’t give much away, besides the fact that this won’t be an easy task. Obviously, the U.S. wants no association with the Taliban and with Elizabeth’s realization involving the Afghan government, the fall finale sounds like it’s going to have Elizabeth on one side and the President on the other, once again showing her confidence and strength.

For Henry, another difficult battle is about to take place. Dmitri is being placed front and center to help the U.S. when he will have the task of convincing a Russian spy to switch sides. The interesting part of this is what kind of emotional toll will this have on Dmitri? He’s dealt with so much this season with a new job and his recovering opioid addiction that we question whether he can handle a high pressure situation like this. There’s no telling what will happen.

The good news is that Daisy is back this week especially after her being absent for a few weeks. It will be great to see her again after her maternity leave, however, for Daisy it might not be the best return to work as she makes the decision to tell Joe’s mom about the baby. His mother could take the news two ways: She could be alright about it or she could be upset that Daisy didn’t tell her. On the bright side, it could form a bond between the two of them. It might not start happily if his mom is upset, but over time she could be someone that Daisy can rely on to help her.

Overall, the fall finale sounds exciting and definitely will set up an intriguing second half of the season.
