Designated Survivor season 2 episode 11 return date for Kiefer Sutherland, cast
Today, ABC confirmed that the Kiefer Sutherland series is going to return with the second half of its season starting on Wednesday, February 28 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time. This means that on the other side of the Winter Olympics, you’ll get a chance to see President Kirkman back in action and facing what is likely going to be a completely different world than what we saw during the first part of season 2.
If there is one word that we would use to describe Designated Survivor, it’s instability. After all, the entire premise of the series is based on Kirkman becoming the leader of the free world after a devastating attack. He is one of the most unstable-presidents and since the time he took office there hasn’t been much in the way of constancy.
The second half of the season should prove to be a reinvention and we’re interested in seeing what that brings. Thanks to the later return date, you’re hopefully going to get a chance to enjoy many of these stories without nearly as much in the way interruptions. It should be by and large a pretty straight shot to the season 2 finale.
So what are the season 3 renewal odds?
Let’s just say that we’re a little bit nervous. The ratings for the second season are down by a pretty good margin over season 1 and that’s a significant cause for concern. While the show may be about instability in many ways, this is not something that is good for the ratings. We need to see Designated Survivor establish a little more of a consistent base given that if that doesn’t happen, we’re likely going to see it off of the air by the end of the year. It’ll have a shot of coming back if it either holds on to most of its season 2 audience or improves it slightly.
If the numbers sink further … well, let’s just say that we’re nervous about that.
