Prison Break season 6 in the works, per Dominic Purcell
In a post on Instagram, it was none other than original series star Dominic Purcell himself who noted that the next chapter is in development. While this isn’t a guarantee that it will end up being made, it’s a step in the right direction for the series. The fifth of the show proved to be a worthy revival — while its ratings weren’t out of this world, it did perform well enough to make Fox interested in doing more. Also, it’s a franchise that can sell all over the world given that many viewers are already familiar with it.
Doing a Prison Break season 6 is challenging mostly in finding the time for everyone to be involved. Purcell, for example, is a regular over on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow and unless he were to depart that show (which has happened a lot these days with Victor Garber and Franz Drameh each saying goodbye), he would only have a handful of months in order to work on that show. Wentworth Miller would be in the same boat had he not already wrapped up his time on Legends of Tomorrow as a regular — this season he is officially departing the entire DC – CW universe once and for all, based on an announcement he made on social media.
Our sentiment at the moment is that the earliest you could see more Prison Break is either late 2018 or winter / spring 2019 — more than likely the latter. There needs to be a worthy concept first, and then on the other side of that you need to figure out a way to round up the cast and get them together. If it’s another abbreviated revival of eight to ten episodes, it’s an easy thing for Fox to schedule in the spring and put on after the conclusion of some of their other shows.
