Lucifer season 3 episode 11 return date hopes for Tom Ellis, cast
As of this writing, Fox has not 100% confirmed the return date for the Tom Ellis series, but all signs have it coming back on the air at some point in January. It could be paired up with The Gifted again for an episode or two, only to later join forces with the new medical drama The Resident after it premieres following the NFC Championship Game.
The good news for all Lucifer fans is that this series doesn’t seem to be getting the Gotham treatment where you are stuck waiting until spring in order to see some of what’s coming up. It also seems slightly spared of that terrible fate where it was off last year for most of the winter until returning in the late spring. There is absolutely going to be plenty of story to address in the back half of the season, and with that we imagine that the writers are going to want to get to some of it sooner rather than later.
As for the chances of a Lucifer season 4 beyond this season, for the time being we would say that we are cautiously optimistic. The ratings are not spectacular by any means, but the show does function well enough to stay in its timeslot and be reasonably competitive with what is going on over at CBS. We also think that it fills a valuable void right now on network TV: A real guilty pleasure shore that is a heck of a lot of fun to watch. There’s a lot of irony in the fact that a show about the devil is more lighthearted and encouraging than some of the other stuff that’s out there, but this is where we are in 2017. Let’s just hope that 2017 brings every bit as much Lucifer magic as what we had this fall.
Update: Lucifer is officially set to return on January 1. Happy New Year!
