Timeless season 2 episode 6 will bring you a touch of the blues
In a new post on Twitter, show executive producer Eric Kripke made it clear that this upcoming episode will have a touch of “Cross Road Blues.” This is an iconic song first recorded in the 1930’s by Robert Johnson, one of the best artists of his time. He died in 1938, and as a result of that he never found much fame for any of his music during his life. As a matter of fact, there are only a few verified photographs that were ever taken of him.
For those wondering, there is also a larger story behind “Cross Road Blues” that is deeply rooted in legend, one where he sold his soul to the devil in return for his musical talents. There are a number of different readings to the lyrics and if you want to listen yourself, you can check out the full song below.
As to whether or not we foresee Timeless offering up its best take on Doctor Faustus, we doubt it. If Eric Kripke really wanted to write some songs about someone selling their soul to the devil he would’ve remained on Supernatural. Yet, there are some interesting angles that could be explored here, especially since there is not that much that is known about Johnson’s life. This offers the show a chance to create a little bit of their own history, while also diving somewhat of a legend. We hope that this is something that they take on and explore throughout the second season, which in general does have many mysteries attached to it — with Rittenhouse of course at the center of almost all of them,
Unfortunately, you are still going to be waiting for a rather long time in order to check out Timeless season 2 on the air — based on the NBC schedule that is out there, the earliest you could see the show on is this spring. It’s also possible that the producers are simply going to save new episodes until this summer.
