Hawaii Five-0 season 8 episode 9 review: Steve and Danny need some help
This case started with a woman who found herself stranded out in the ocean, and when the team first found her it was easy to draw the assumption that she was innocent in what happened — that’s also the story she passed along in order to ensure that nobody was able to detect what she was really up to. By the time that the team back on the islands started to figure it out, she was primed and ready to bolt — complete with her killing a doctor and stealing her outfit to escape.
While Grover, Adam, and Jerry did their part in order to help the Task Force out at sea, McGarrett and Danny started to find themselves in more of a haze. They were struggling to handle their inevitable fate, and it was interesting seeing the number of different ways that they tried to accept it. For Danny, one part of it involved him getting drunk and starting to come up with restaurant ideas. For Tani, she was interested in finding out why Junior was as capable of being calm under pressure as he was.
Eventually, the woman in question was eventually found by Five-0 — but bolted once again when she realized precisely what was happening. She eventually was shot, which was only helpful for the sake of ensuring that she didn’t get what she wanted. Unfortunately, it wasn’t altogether useful for ensuring that the members of the team stranded at sea were going to be able to make it back to shore in one peace.
Grover to the rescue
With Chi McBride’s character leading away, McGarrett and his fellow team members were located — but by that time it was late at night, raining, and just about everyone was soaked. They were able to make it back to shore, but once they were there, it was clear that there were some other problems awaiting the group — namely, they were all stuck together while it was ensured that they were all okay.
Oh, and once Danny and McGarrett were back on safe ground they resumed their bickering — especially when it comes to the restaurant.
CarterMatt Verdict
This episode of Hawaii Five-0 was fun despite the fact that for much of the episode it looked as though Steve and many other team members had their lives on the line. If you like Steve and Danny squabbles, Jimmy Buffett serenades, and seeing an unusual group of characters help to save the day, you probably enjoyed this one very much.
