Nashville season 6 promo features Deacon – Jessie kiss, syringe drama
This new clip (via CMT) focused on the sounds of the show, and it makes for interesting viewing in between the anger, the romance, the drama, and of course the music. You also get a small glimpse of an apparent Deacon – Jessie kiss that’s going to ignite a wide array of chatter all over the fandom.
From the get-go with Jessie and Deacon the Nashville writers created a difficult dilemma for themselves — they don’t want to put these two characters in a position where they’re rushed together. The connection between Deacon and Rayna was one of the most valuable parts of the show and nobody out there wants to see that shortchanged. Yet, they also want to ensure that characters find some sort of happiness and have the ability to move on. It’s not easy to root for Deacon with anyone else, even if Jessie is likable and has gone through plenty of struggle.
It’s also a challenge to root for a couple who seemed almost ordained to get together from the moment Jessie first appeared — somehow, we have a feeling Nashville is still going to figure this one out.
As for the rest of this preview, there is a very interesting questioning surfacing here on the subject of the syringe — who’s injecting it and why? Addiction is a storyline that we wouldn’t be shocked to see the show touch on even more than they have, largely because of the fact that there’s so much pressure in the music industry to look and act a certain way. It’s easy to fall back on anything that you can to help to get you through the day.
With this being the final season we anticipate the producers pulling out all of the stops — and, in the process, building towards a thrilling conclusion that will continue the conversation long after the show ends. That’s what any great long-running show should want.
