Is Franz Drameh leaving Legends of Tomorrow alongside Victor Garber?
Yet, we don’t think that it’s something that is altogether fair to count on for a number of different reasons. For one, losing one half of Firestorm does not mean that the character’s gone in the slightest. We already know that there was a storyline in the works where Jax was going to be able to become the superhero without merging with Martin Stein, and we could be at a point now where that comes to fruition. Or, it’s also possible that Jax ends up developing a different set of powers through some other experimentation. We know that it’s important to him to have value with the team and one way or another, he’ll probably find that.
Just don’t expect that the departure of Garber means that Drameh will be joining him. Franz was a part of Legends of Tomorrow from the beginning and we can’t see the producers wanting to do away with one cast member because of something that happened with another. It seemed to be Garber’s desire to move on that led to the Stein character being killed off — he’s heading back to the stage, and we imagine that the 68-year old actor wanted to be more centrally located in New York rather than having to do all of the constant travel. We still find it astonishing, (to use one of Garber’s own words) that the show was able to have an actor of his caliber for as long as they did.
You should get a sense as to some of what Jax’s future is next week when the Legends of Tomorrow midseason finale airs on The CW. One thing that does seem interesting about the trailer below is that you’re going to see a younger version of Stein, (one displaced from history) seemingly featured in it. That means that Jax should have a chance to get some more closure with a different iteration of the character — losing Stein was so sad, and the character’s death did cause us to be far less celebratory about the weddings at the end of the episode than we would’ve been otherwise.
