Supernatural season 13 episode 8 preview: The quest to find Jack
For those who did catch the show tonight and are excited for Supernatural season 13 episode 8, check out the synopsis that CarterMatt has for you below:
THE BIG HEIST – Feeling as if they are running out of options, Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) agree to steal a mysterious trunk belonging to a demon named Barthamus (guest star David Cubitt), in exchange for a locater spell the Winchesters can use to track down Jack. Robert Singer directed the episode written by Meredith Glynn (#1308). Original airdate 11/30/2017.
Now, let’s spend a moment talking about titles because in this case, it’s rather important. “The Scorpion and the Frog” is the name for this episode and it’s derived from a popular fable. This fable revolves around the two aforementioned animals, and when the scorpion wants to get aboard the frog, the frog hesitates. Why? The frog believes that the scorpion will sting them — yet, the scorpion replies that they wouldn’t do that. The frog decides to let the scorpion cross the stream with him, but midway through the scorpion stings him. Why? As the scorpion says, that’s just its nature. It stings. There is no way to get the scorpion to change who it is.
As for why this matters so much when applied to the world of Supernatural, look at things this way — maybe there’s no way to turn Jack into anyone other than who he is and what he’s destined to be due to his lineage. Sam and Dean may try, but they could end up being the frog here. This episode should be really interesting to watch unfold just because of the precedent that is here in the title.
