The Bachelor promo with Arie Luyendyk Jr. makes Janu-Arie a thing

When will Arie Luyendyk Jr.'s season of The Bachelor start filming?

Just in case you were wondering what sort of cheesy Bachelor pun we were getting for the new season, it’s Janu-Arie. You’re welcome, America.

The latest promo for the upcoming season featuring Arie Luyendyk Jr. as the lead was shared below (via Yahoo! and show producer Elan Gale), and it gives you a sense of some of what’s coming — and also just how over-the-top it really is. This is the sort of promo that you really can rinse-and-repeat from almost any other season of the show given that it features a wide array of women excited to see Arie — even if some of them probably applied or were cast thinking that it was going to be Peter Kraus — while also experiencing a variety of somewhat-exotic dates. This is the sort of promo used mostly to hype up the charm of the leading man and the ABC assessment here is clearly that Arie is going to appeal to many casual fans of the show — even if diehard fans aren’t that excited to see him.

Think about the Janu-Arie experiment in this way: Arie is known from the racing world, and it just so happens that NASCAR, IndyCar, and basically every other sort of racing is extremely popular in the Heartland, the same region who loves this show and watches it more than any other. They probably think that Arie is a slam dunk to this demographic of viewers and they may be right.

As for every other prospective viewer out there, they just figure that the contestants and the drama will be what brings them in. You’d be surprised about just how much tolerance for pain Bachelor Nation really has. The season of the show featuring Juan Pablo Galavis — promoted as “Juanuary,” mind you — actually drew some very good ratings! Yet, it is easily considered the worst season of the modern era of the show when they started recycling past contestants as the leads.

What do you think about this new Bachelor promo? Does this make you any more excited at all about the new season, or did you really not care all that much about it in the first place? Share now in the comments!

Also, be sure to head over here to see more of what Peter had to say about not getting the role this year — we do think he’s got some interesting comments.
