Lethal Weapon season 2 episode 6 preview: Riggs’ troubled past returns

Lethal Weapon season 2 episode 6

Lethal Weapon season 2 episode 6 is entitled “Gold Rush,” and at the center of this story is Riggs’ own troubled past. This is a man who may be doing his best now to be on the straight and narrow and wants to avoid some of his past troubles, but it’s a little bit easier to do that when it’s not staring you in the face.

This is where the big story of “Gold Rush” starts to come into play. The Lethal Weapon season 2 episode 6 synopsis CarterMatt has for you below explains what his trouble could involve:

Riggs is reunited with childhood friends and comes to realize they might be mixed up in the robbery-homicide case he and Murtaugh are investigating. Meanwhile, Murtaugh finds a joint stashed in his kitchen that he brings to Scorsese for testing in effort to bust one of his kids in the all-new Gold Rush episode of LETHAL WEAPON airing Tuesday, November 14th on FOX.

The promo (which you can check out below) basically picks up where the synopsis leaves off. The issue that Riggs is facing here is one that is actually rather easy to explain — one of these friends seems to be largely responsible for getting Riggs out of a bind many years before, and there is a sense of great loyalty that goes along with that. He feels as though he owes this person something — whether or not he actually does is a worthy subject for debate, but when you’ve got that emotional hold on your mind it can cause you do things a little bit differently than you would otherwise. Riggs may not be thinking altogether clearly and that could (in turn) impact his job. Based on what we’re seeing here with him and Murtaugh, it seems almost assured that it will impact his job.

Over the course of this story we’re going to see these two do their best to work through this, and hopefully try to emerge stronger on the other side. Given that everyone has a past, Murtaugh should be able to sympathize with him on some level and try to ensure that he makes it through to the other side in one piece.

As for what else is coming…

The Murtaugh storyline feels a little bit like comic relief — while it obviously will be serious business if the joint actually belongs to one of his kids, there’s a good chance that this story is a little more complicated then it seems. Plus, there’s just something about Damon Wayans (maybe it’s from My Wife and Kids) that allows him to play these sort of stories well where he gets really angry about something (in this case a joint) and ends up blaming the wrong people.
