Scorpion season 4 episode 8 preview: Renaissance thievery; Walter, Paige’s roadblock

We recently shared with you some of the first information about Scorpion season 4 episode 8 — an installment entitled “Faire is Foul.” As we prepare for it in one week’s time, let’s try to put a somewhat-different spin on the story.

Before CarterMatt dives in any further, let us kick things off by sharing the attached synopsis below courtesy of CBS:

“Faire is Foul” – For Sylvester’s birthday, Team Scorpion visits a renaissance festival, but the revelry is cut short when a group tries to rob a nearby police evidence locker. Also, Paige grows weary of Walter’s play-by-play of all the historical inaccuracies at the festival, on SCORPION, Monday, Nov. 13 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

Is there anything in this episode that could hold long-term ramifications for Walter and Paige? These two are still in the early stages of their romantic relationship, but what is important about this story is that it is coming up at a time when we are starting to see these characters exit the honeymoon phase of their relationship. Some of Walter’s quirks that Paige found cute earlier in the season (or at least tolerable) may now simply be annoying. Walter is not someone who recognizes that what he does is annoying sometimes — he thinks that (on some level) he’s often being helpful. For example, maybe here he thinks that pointing out all of the historical inaccuracies will help Paige learn the truth about medieval times. Or, maybe he thinks that he is helping the Faire with some constructive criticisms.

What Walter needs to learn is that sometimes, it’s okay to turn his brain off. He needs that, just as many people in life dot. Very few people are able to just rattle off near-constant facts and information without feeling exhausted. Paige loves him, but he needs to figure out a way to relax for the sake of their relationship’s long-term future. Maybe this episode is an opportunity for them to work through that while also taking on a thievery case.
