The Bachelor season 22 premiere date: Ring in new year with Arie Luyendyk Jr.
ABC confirmed that the new season of The Bachelor featuring racer Arie Luyendyk Jr. is going to be starting up on Monday, January 1 at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time — meaning that the network has high-profile programming right away in 2018!
For more information on what to expect, just check out what the network said in an official press release:
Six years ago, Arie Luyendyk Jr. was in love and a day away from proposing to the woman of his dreams. And then, she broke his heart. Emily Maynard (now Emily Maynard Johnson) may not have been Arie’s future wife, but he hasn’t been able to find a love like hers since. Now Arie, 36, is back and ready to race into America’s heart yet again when he returns for a second shot at love, starring in the 22nd season of ABC’s hit romance reality series “The Bachelor,” premiering MONDAY, JANUARY 1 (8:00-10:01 p.m. EST), on The ABC Television Network.
After a tearful exit on Emily’s season of ABC’s “The Bachelorette,” Arie has stepped away from the spotlight and focused on his new career in real estate, which has brought him tremendous success. Even though he has been gone from Bachelor Nation, America hasn’t forgotten Arie’s rugged good looks and charm. After mending his broken heart, Arie is finally ready to start his own journey for love.
Of course, ABC does conveniently leave out that Arie wasn’t seemingly production’s first choice for much of this process — they were circling instead around Peter Kraus, but that didn’t happen for a wide array of reasons.
Do we think that anything could hurt The Bachelor premiering on this day? Maybe. The major competition is college football, and also some people who may still be hungover from New Year’s Eve. This is also a day where many people travel and one where there are plenty of people who have friends and loved ones over to help eat left overs and gossip about the night before. For ABC, they probably just have schedule limitations that dictate when they have to kick off the season — that way, they can get Dancing with the Stars out there too.
There is also Bachelor Winter Games coming up in the near future, but it won’t likely air on Monday nights. Be sure to come back to CarterMatt for more news on it.
