Veronica Mars limited series still possible, Kristen Bell confirms
Could we actually get a Veronica Mars limited series in the future? Could we be so lucky? We really want to think that we could be, mostly because the movie didn’t really get enough time to do the original series justice. While it was definitely entertaining, there is more of this story that should be told at some point in the future … and we know that Kristen Bell is still intent on trying to make it happen.
How intent is she? Let’s just throw out there some of the most-recent comments that she made on the subject in a new interview with IndieWire:
“We are willing to put the effort in. I mean, if I have to do it as Murder She Wrote at 80, we’re going to do it. It’s going to happen.”
As for the idea to make the show happen again, it seems like the prevailing one is to move it over to a limited series format where you get six hour-long episodes. If we had a say as to a possible network home we’d go back right where it all began: The CW. Imagine it as a six-part event airing over the course of the summer and how much fun that would be. While we are sure that there would be an appetite for it either on Netflix or some other streaming platform, we fell in love with the original version of this show back when it was on network TV. Let it have a new home there — while we were angry at The CW for a long time for canceling the show, there are new people in charge there who would treat it better and give it the love it so deserved. These are the people now who have given Supernatural a full 13 seasons to air content.
If someone gave us six Veronica Mars episodes and allowed us to watch them right away, of course we would have some excitement over that. However, we also would be even more enjoyed about the idea of being about to sit down, discuss each episode individually here at CarterMatt, and then prepare for some of the others that are coming up afterwards. We’re not going to look a gift horse in the mouth; we’re just putting our two cents out there well aware that there will be some not exactly thrilled with the idea of the show ever going back to a place that once canceled it.
Still, we’ll see what happens here, given that we don’t believe anyone over at The CW is in all that much of a hurry to make a decision with this show one way or another.
