The challenge for Outlander season 3 episode 7 is already clear

While you wait for the Print Shop scene — or even after you watch it — there’s something to ponder: How will Outlander season 3 episode 7 top it?

One of the big challenges for the remainder of the season 3 comes now in the form of recreating expectations for itself. For almost the entirety of the fall the scene Starz has advertised is the Print Shop reunion. It’s been in the promos, the trailers, and promotional photos galore. Heck, the network even created pop-up versions of the A. Malcolm store for various fan events!

So what does the show need to do to follow this up now? It’s no easy feat, but we know that there is a lot of good story to come in between a voyage, a foundation for season 4, some more new characters, and also an amazing color palette that you haven’t seen on the show just yet. There may not be any one singular event with the sort of hype around it based on internet buzz, but if we were Starz one of the next things we would do is pivot to some of the scenes coming up with the ship — supplant one great event with a series of great ones! There have been some brief glimpses here and there of the footage shot in South Africa, but now is the time to start unleashing some of that for the fans to see in video form. Establish that as the next great chapter, given how many of us as viewers and as people are constantly in search of the next great thing. We may enjoy what is there for us in the present, but we still find ourselves avidly seeking out whatever is coming around the bend.

As viewers, can we also do our part to drive hype beyond the Print Shop? Absolutely, and the show still needs it! We have a season 4 but technically no season 5 yet. There is a reason to drive for even higher ratings — as great of a job as Starz did promoting season 3 and the Print Shop, we credit the fans first and foremost for the higher ratings so far this season. The best promotion is always word of mouth.

We do hope viewers get a chance to enjoy what they see on 3×06, but also still look forward to whatever is coming in 3×07. After all, can’t we have both?
