Your Honor: Series from Good Wife, Criminal Justice execs picked up at Showtime
According to Deadline, the series is based on the Israeli drama of the same name will be lead by Peter Moffat, who created Criminal Justice and was the basis for HBO’s Emmy-winning limited series The Night Of, and will also include The Good Wife’s Robert and Michelle King.
Your Honor follows “the son of a respected judge who is involved in a hit and run. Soon after they both are drawn into a high-stakes game of lies, deceit and impossible choices when it comes to light that the victim was the son of a notorious crime boss.” It will be set in Chicago.
From the description, the series sounds like something we are going to want to check out. It has the potential to be very dynamic and creative in the stories they can tell. The most intriguing part of the series’s concept is that it focuses on the son, not the judge. It’s not common that the main character is the son or daughter of a huge figure like a judge. In most shows, the main character would be the judge because the story could follow the judge and the cases they work and the decisions they make. Overall, the series could be the next big hit for Showtime.
The series was picked up by Showtime after Gary Levine, Showtime’s president of programming, express his excitement about the series since he heard the pitch.
“When a pitch has you on the edge of your seat for 40 straight minutes, you know you’re hearing something special. When the pitchers are as talented, experienced and acclaimed as Michelle King, Robert King and Peter Moffat, you buy it in the room and start planning for a fascinating new Showtime series.”
The dynamic team of Moffat and the Kings is a powerful threesome and together they are sure to give fans a great series. Robert and Michelle also expressed their excitement about working with Moffat.
“Peter Moffat’s extraordinary talent with complex characters, suspenseful plotting and moral shading make him the perfect writer for Your Honor. His pitch held the room hostage, and we can’t wait to watch him bring this mesmerizing, complicated story to life.”
