Outlander season 4 news, season 5 hopes, more in Maril Davis Q&A

Outlander season 4

If you’re an Outlander fan and love behind-the-scenes dish and insight, there are few better Twitter Q&A sessions than the one with Maril Davis today. The show executive producer was candid about season 3, the current production of season 4, and a whole lot more.

We’ll feature some select tweets as we go along in this article — follow along for that! Hopefully, this gives you much of the info in one spot if you’re not an active Twitter user.

Before we begin, may we also suggest the story here if you want to get a good laugh via Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe going into the weekend?

1. Davis is hoping for a season 5 renewal soon – We’ve noted already that it would benefit the Outlander production greatly to know about season 5 by early 2018; that way, they can begin some of the pre-planning process.

2. There will be no season 4 filming in America – This isn’t a surprise; Davis noted that “the bulk” of season 4 will be done in Scotland. We know that there are some location shots being done elsewhere in Europe, but there’s no word on if any cast members will be involved in them.

Just in case you’re wondering why there is no U.S. filming that the story will be set largely in North Carolina, cost is a big part of it. The crew and the architecture of the series is already in Scotland.

3. You may not see Richard Rankin and Sophie Skelton again this season – At first Davis offered up some hope that you would, but she later noted she misread the question. It’s possible they’ll turn up as a surprise, but don’t get your hopes up too much.

4. When will filming be over? – Think around June once more, given that filming kicked off in early October. This could presumably have the show done in time for a fall 2018 launch on Starz … if we’re lucky.

5. The scripts are about halfway through – For anyone also wondering the team is also still working on the first episode, which began close to two weeks ago in Scotland.

6. Why Murtagh is still alive – The explanation here is pretty simple; however, what is not is whether or not the character will appear again this season or down the road. Keeping him alive, at least to date, is, one of the biggest differences between this show and the Diana Gabaldon books.

All in all, there’s some great information in here! Thanks to Maril Davis to doing this today, given that we are one of those people who does always like to be looking towards the future. The third season of the show is great to date, and that is in part why we want to see so much more of the series.
