‘Shiptober: Should Chicago Med season 3 keep Ethan, April together?
There are many interesting questions that you should ponder at the moment as we prepare for the third season to start on NBC next month, but the status of these two characters is one of the most interesting ones. After all, they are about as new as new can be. They kissed at the end of the second season, and while it seems as though the two could have potential, there hasn’t been a whole lot of time to explore anything. Add to this the likelihood of a major time jump to get the show up to speed with the other entries in the One Chicago franchise and it’s pretty darn clear that the folks behind the scenes have a lot to figure out when it comes to how they want to resolve this relationship.
Our feeling is that with this relationship one of the best things that you can do is to try and take it slow. We don’t want to miss the entire honeymoon period because of a time jump! Maybe have the two in relationship limbo for much of that time before deciding to get together early on during season 3. If they are not together, then maybe develop a meaty storyline about why that didn’t happen and some of the struggles that the two of them could be facing if they do want to pair up in the future. There is absolutely some really cool potential avenues that the show could explore here if they really want to add some depth.
Let’s say that Ethan and April do end up becoming a couple; after that, there are certainly some other interesting things that could be explored. Take, for example, getting a chance to learn a little bit more about what makes the two parties tick and how they can work all of the time together while also having a relationship. There’s also the fact that they are both so strong-willed that it’s all but guaranteed that there are going to be some major clashes that come up here and there. They’ll have to find a way to navigate through some of that in order to be happy.
