Chicago Med season 3 will have 20 episodes, despite later premiere

Chicago Med season 3

What is the Chicago Med season 3 episode count? We’d heard rumors about everything from fifteen to eighteen over the past few weeks.

Now, we’re getting a little bit more confirmation — and it’s certainly great news! According to The Hollywood Reporter the third season of the show on NBC is going to run in total for an impressive 20 episodes. This is only down two from the season 2 order, and that means that you will be seeing a great deal of these characters starting in November on. One other thing that this likely means is that there will be new episodes for the vast majority of the new year — while we cannot say for certain that this is a straight run, it does appear as though you will have a chance to get these episodes with very few bumps in the road insofar as repeats go.

There is certainly a lot of content for Chicago Med season 3 to touch on during this time, whether you are talking about the show’s efforts to resolve the Dr. Charles cliffhangers or some of the other major events we could see unfold, including the relationship between Natalie Manning and Will Halstead. There is no guarantee that the two will be romantically intertwined anytime soon, but can’t we hope for something like that at this point? They’ve been through enough to deserve some happiness.

For the record, the aforementioned site also reports that Malcolm McDowell is going to be appearing on Chicago Med season 3 in what looks to be a pretty major role. He will be playing the role of Dr. Jaffrey, the mentor to Dr. Connor Rhodes’ new rival Dr. Bekkar. While his precise episode count is not clear at present we’re hoping to see him across several stories. This is the thing about a show like Chicago Med being set within a hospital: You are going to get a wide array of different opportunities over time to see characters. We just hope that they continue to find some unique ways to be integrated into the story so that it’s not just about medical cases, but also people and better understanding who they are and how/why they act the way that they do. McDowell is an accomplished actor and we know that there is a lot that this series can do with this character provided that they really want to dive into who he is.

Rest assured that before Chicago Med season 3 does premiere on NBC we will have some additional news when it comes to what lies ahead — for now, be sure to check out a synopsis for the early part of season 3 here at CarterMatt. We do think that it is some worthwhile reading.
