NCIS: New Orleans season 4 episode 4 video: Another look at the ghost story

NCIS: New Orleans season 4 episode 4 is coming onto CBS in just a matter of a day or so, and it’s going to be a strange one. After all, there is going to be a big part of this story that is themed all around a ghost-story legend that is a good century and a half old.

In the sneak peek below you get a sense of a ghost story involving a Confederate soldier who fell from a balcony 150 years ago. Why is this story being told now? It has to do with the mysterious death of a sailor today. When it happened, apparently there were so many people familiar with the original legend that they just assumed that what happened was a part of the act. As it turns out, not so much.

It feels really strange to say that we at CarterMatt love the idea of this given that we’re talking basically about something that is the setup for a really strange murder case, but you also have to view this all as fiction within the world of the show. What makes this episode compelling as entertaining is that you’re combining the old NCIS standby in case-of-the-week entertainment with something a little creepy and supernatural. While we are not at Halloween just yet this nonetheless feels like the perfect ghost story for the show to explore. It’s the case of someone who died under really strange, mysterious circumstances and there are going to be those who jump to supernatural conclusions.

In the end, we’re sure that there will be a pretty reasonable (if horrible) explanation for what happened. This is not a show that will leave things a mystery at the end of the episode. Beyond just the creepiness of the case what should also be interesting is seeing how each one of the characters react to it. Take, for example, someone like Tammy who isn’t as used to some of the creepier traditions that come with life in New Orleans. We’re already coming off of a big Gregorio episode given that we just saw her working alongside Eva for a considerable amount of time; now, this case could offer her up something that is completely and utterly different than what she just tackled previously.
